Job Overview
CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an established Group of Companies operating within the Retail Sector, we are seeking to recruit a VAT Accountant to join their expanding team of professionals based in Limassol. The successful applicant will ideally be either Part or Fully ACCA/ACA Qualified and possess some demonstrable experience with VAT Accounting; any exposure to International VAT work will be considered a significant advantage. Excellent written and spoken English is essential and knowledge of Greek is desirable. Our client offers excellent working hours, which include reduced working hours 2 days each week in the afternoon.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Preparation of VAT workings to be sent to external providers and communication with auditors and tax advisors in different countries for the submission of VAT returns locally.
- Preparation of EC Sales and Intrastat workings to be sent to external providers and communication with auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with European VAT compliance requirements.
- Preparation and submission of Cyprus VAT returns and VIES declarations.
- Keep a line of communication with colleagues abroad to solve any VAT related issues that may arise.
- Processing VAT related entries into the system.
Key Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- ACCA/ACA qualification will be considered as an advantage (preferably newly qualified).
- Some hands-on experience with local Cyprus-based VAT; any knowledge/experience with international VAT will be considered a significant advantage.
- Experience in using computerised accounting systems.
- Taking into consideration the worldwide exposure, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is a must; knowledge of Greek is highly desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications (mainly Excel).
- Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Efficient time management skills and ability to work under pressure and strict deadlines.
- Pleasant personality with a strong initiative.
