Job Overview

CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an expanding Group of Companies, we are seeking to recruit a Data Software Engineer to join their expanding team of professionals based in Nicosia. The successful applicant will primarily be responsible for writing and testing high quality code in Python and will have solid exposure to various Business Intelligence tools including SQL. Any experience with BI dashboarding software such as Tableau is highly advantageous.

Role Overview:

Core responsibilities include writing and testing code, debugging programs, integrating applications with third-party web services, experience using server-side logic, end-to-end and highly experienced with various BI tools and data processing. It will include also design, implement, and maintain systems used to collect and analyze business intelligence data, creating dashboards, databases, and other platforms that allow for efficient collection and evaluation of BI data. Ultimately, you’ll build highly responsive web applications , dashboard and data set projects that align with our business needs. Additionally, some basic FE development skills is needed for that purpose.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Write effective, scalable code.
  • Develop back-end components to improve responsiveness and overall performance.
  • Develop and Integrate user-facing elements into applications.
  • Improve functionality of existing systems.
  • Implement security and data protection solutions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to understand user requirements and provide technical solutions.
  • Deploying software to production environments directly using automated deployment tool.
  • Improving our software development life-cycle.
  • Develop, modify, and implement complex software solutions in an early stage, agile environment.
  • Maintain and Improve  Software infrastructure.
  • Design, build and implement our ETL pipeline.
  • Implement and design integration between various data sources and architectures.
  • You will have full ownership on designing, developing, and maintaining our Batch and Streaming data.
  • pipelines using technologies like Kafka, Spark, Kinesis, Lambda & Kubernetes.
  • Data accuracy testing using high level SQL.
  • Building ETLs and data migration pipelines.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Work experience as a Python Developer.
  • Expertise in at least one popular Python framework (like Django, Flask or Pyramid).
  • Knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM).
  • Familiarity and experienced with front-end technologies (like JavaScript , HTML5 , CSS).
  • Take ownership of existing Microsoft SQL Server by converting legacy work into a sustainable method of capturing and managing data.
  • Mastery of SQL and database best practices.
  • Experience in BI dashboarding software (Tableau preferred, but not required).
  • Software integration experience preferred.

  • Ability to build software applications according to requirements specifications.
  • Hands-on experience implementing ETL (or ELT) best practices at scale in sql serve env, ssis.
  • Hands-on experience with data pipeline tools (Airflow, Luigi, Azkaban, dbt).
  • Familiarity with the world of Big Data in Hadoop [Spark, HDFS, HIVE or cloud receiving tools] – a significant advantage.
